The Jake and Jones sale items we love
A brief look at the discounted men’s and women’s styles that caught our eye
The Jake and Jones end-of-season sale is in full swing!
With sales, I try to avoid the pressure to buy something simply because it’s marked down. Instead, I keep an eye out for items that could genuinely fill a wardrobe gap of mine, or pieces that simply spark joy in me.
Sales are also a perfect time to explore, to try something new, or to rethink the narratives you’ve told yourself about what you wear (or don’t wear) and why.
In this spirit, I popped into the shop this week to see what stood out on the racks. Louie, friend and fellow Jake and Jones colleague, did the same.
Here’s what we found.
First up for me was Alex Mill (pro tip: the sales racks in the women's shop are organized in alphabetical order, so naturally this was the first designer I pulled.) These wool trousers are divine and practical, with an adjustable waistband to accommodate a more tailored look or a baggier vibe. They can easily pass as casual (with a t-shirt or sweater) or dressed up with a blouse, button down, or vest — in this case, the Anna Vest.
Here, I paired it with these AMAZING Sofie D'Hoore Foster High Top Heels in Leather Black for a snappy casual look that’s not stuffy. Worn with the Bergfabel Loose Tyrol Shirt in Rose (above), it’s a bit more whimsical, which I love.
Speaking of Bergfabel, here’s the same top as above, with the matching skirt. They’re both made from gorgeous, silky cotton that feels sturdy but still soft. I never wear long skirts like this but I loved how the set looked (and felt) together, with the same Sofie high tops that add the right amount of androgyny to this otherwise feminine, more traditional look.
I mentioned above that sales can be a time where you surprise yourself, and it was such an unexpected joy to try on this full look. I loved it, but I ultimately left it for someone (maybe you?) who might love it and wear it even more than I would. Same goes for the shoes, which unfortunately for me are only left in a size 40 or 40.5.
This Cawley Smooth Silk Rugby Shirt is so fun and easy. I threw it on over this gorgeous and delicate black Kamperett V Neck Midi Slip Dress. The boots are by LoQ, and are the one sale item I purchased — I’ve been looking for black booties and these were perfect.
I resonate heavy with so much of Simone Rocha’s pieces and overall aesthetic. This black corset jacket makes me feel unstoppable.
And this shirt dress by her is a perfect example of an elevated basic that feels sassy, sexy, and sweet all at the same time.
Honorable mentions: Toogood Painter Shirt in Fine Canvas Umber; Kartik Research Pataudi Shirt; &Daughter Ada Geelong Crewneck Cardigan; Alex Mill Catskill Sweater in Cobalt Blue; and any pair of B Sides.
Be the missing ray of sunshine to an overcast day. Although I’d say I’m more of a neutrals guy, heading into the darker, gloomier days of the year, I like to spruce my closet with a touch of color to contrast my environment. This set feels so good and comfortable on. Wearing these pieces individually or as a set is easy peasy.
These Toogood trousers caught my eye when they first came through shop doors. These hand-painted cotton pants are comfortable, easy with an elastic waist. I see myself wearing these pants in many ways – with a button-up to a dinner, but also a gallery opening, but also with a big fur coat to Burning Man. Versatile ;)
Jen (store owner) got me to try this pair of Simone trousers (similar) a few months ago, and they haven’t left my mind. Something I don’t personally have in my closet – exaggerated wide and cropped trousers – but they make me want to prance around! Paired with my favorite Lemaire style and a pink Alex Mill shirt to bring life to the fit.
Honorable mentions: Norse Projects Lace Up Hyper Runner V08 in Black; Gramicci Shadow Plaid Sherpa Jacket; Pilgrim Surf + Supply Shore Gradation Cardigan in Brown; and JUD Catwick Sweater in Ecru
