Working at Jake and Jones is like stepping into a beautifully curated Pinterest board where your coworkers are the cool girls actually pulling it off.
Case in point: Dani, our effortlessly cool womenswear buyer and customer support guru, walked into the store one day wearing the most perfect, slouchy-yet-tailored Le Bon Shoppe pants I’ve ever seen.
I didn’t even ask her where they were from, I just went home, opened five tabs, hunted them down online like it was my mission in life, and bought them on the spot. No hesitation. No regrets. Just vibes and Visa.
The pants? Impeccable. My self-control? Missing in action.
I showed up to work the next day and told her the whole story, only to find out that she had been influenced by Alex, our other coworker and co-owner of The Eddy. And that my friends is how the cookie crumbles, down like dominoes we go!
It’s dangerous being surrounded by people with good taste. Every lunch break turns into a fashion show. Every Handlebar coffee run is a lesson in layering. Every “just browsing” the store moment ends with a new favorite item in my closet (and a receipt in my inbox). I came here to work—not to be peer pressured into becoming the most stylish version of myself!
My most recent Jake and Jones haul? A chaotic mix of “need it now” and “it’s basically a necessity.” First up: the newest colorway of Salomons that I physically could not leave behind.
My old pair — loyal companions since I first stumbled upon the brand in London four years ago — have officially been retired. They served me well, but it was time to let them live out their final days in peace (probably under my bed).
And now it's only a matter of time before I pull the trigger on the Maison Margiela nude Tabi flats (pictured below.) Jen wears them like every other day, and I swear they’ve been haunting my dreams. I never realized a nude ballet flat could be the exact right shade of tan — like, “your skin but better,” but for feet.
Now I just have to convince my partner that they’re fashion and not, in fact, hooves. Or maybe they are hooves... and maybe that’s exactly why I like them. (Reformed horse girl, after all. It was only a matter of time.)
To be fair, it’s not just Dani. It’s a team-wide phenomenon. Someone’s always discovering “the perfect white tee,” or “the blazer that changed my life,” or whispering sacred words like Jesse Kamm or Simone Rocha while I slowly dissolve into shopping-induced submission.
Basically, Jake and Jones is a beautiful, Flamingo Estate-scented trap. But at least we all look fabulous while we fall into it.
Next time you see me in another “I had to have it” outfit, just know — I was influenced. And it’s only a matter of time before you are too.
